Difficult

Last week, I was eating a Pangsit Noodles in a small Chinese food stall, and I noticed a small wooden plate on the wall with quotes on it. It said Life is simple, it’s just not easy

And after the meaning materialized in my mind, I smile… It’s funny how this sweet reminder comes in the middle of me slurping the Chinese noodles. Last few days I do worry about the zillion of things, and this quote just reminds me of the best thing about life. Life is never easy and it never will, but you should do whatever you can to keep it simple and sweet and hopefully manageable.

So today, from one of the email I received this morning, emerged this beautiful poem from 13th century Iranian Poet, Rumi. It’s about acceptance; laughter and sorrow are both beautiful messages from beyond to shape us into a beautiful holly bread for the Mighty Lord

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.

Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,

some momentary awareness comes

as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!

Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,

who violently sweep your house

empty of its furniture,

still, treat each guest honorably.

He may be clearing you out

for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.

meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.

because each has been sent

as a guide from beyond.

Cheers!
